1 :How long has your company been in business?

A Few Good College Men has been doing business in the DMV area since 2004.

2 :What do you consider extra services and how much do you charge for them?

We specialize in cost efficient moves. Certain items that require professional tools and care that will inevitably cost extra. For instance; Grand Piano, Double-Door Refrigerators, Pool Tables, and other examples may apply.

3 :For a local move, how does your company charge: by the hour, number of movers, or by weight?

The price of a move is determined based on moving time and crew size. In many cases we set a flat rate for the move.

4 :Who does the packing and loading?

In many cases customers pack the boxes themselves, especially with respect to important documents, legal papers, jewelry, and other valuables. However, in many instances we offer packing services to customers that will not be able to do it themselves and wish to professionals handle those responsibilities in their place.

Our crew is composed of lead foreman and a number of helpers. The foreman is in charge of driving the truck, leading the crew, and packing up the equipment.

5 :Do you charge extra for travel time to and from my house?

No, we do not believe in charging extra for travel time to and from your house. We have a one-time truck fee which covers all of the trucking expenses so that you will not have to worry about that sort of thing.

6 :What kind of cancellation policy do you have?

Local moves require a 24-48 hour cancellation notice.

Long distance moves require a 72 hour cancellation notice.

7 :How can I pay for the move?

We accept cash, check, and credit card payable by the date of the move.

8 :How do you pack items with special requirements, such as electronics, glass-fronted furniture, antiques and musical instruments?

Delicate items require padding when being packed. Great packing material is newspaper, bubble wrap, & packing peanuts

9 :Do you guarantee pickup and delivery dates? What happens if you miss one or both?

We guarantee, on time pickup and delivery dates unless weather or traffic delay.

10 :How much of the work can I do myself?

To increase the efficiency of a move and to lower costs, customers can dissemble items such as cribs, dining room table legs, and beds independently. This saves on time and moving costs. Effective packing and labeling can also save time during the un-packing process when directing movers where to organize the items.

11 :If I do the packing myself, are there restrictions on the types of boxes or utility totes I can use?

There are no restrictions on the type of boxes or utility totes that you can use but we offer recommendations through our website that may help with respect to packing.

12 :What supplies do you provide? What is included? What items do I pay for?

We supply everything needed for moving and protecting the items during transit.

13 :How do you protect the furniture from damage?

We use a number of trusted methods to protect the furniture we move in transit. We use a generous amount of padded material and covering to protect furniture and other items from breaking, scratches, and water damages. We also use professional straps and harnesses to secure items within the truck and prevent them from moving in route.

14 :Will the movers dissemble and reassemble my furniture?

Yes. Our talented team of profession movers can dissemble and reassemble your furniture in your new destination.

15 :Do I need to remove my clothes from dresser before the move?

Generally we advise customers to items such as leave clothes in their dressers that are sturdy enough to handle transit with additional weight. We do not recommend leaving clothes or other items in dressers that are not built sufficiently sturdy such as Ikea style furniture. We do emphasize removing all breakable items, liquid items, jewelry, and valuables from dressers and furniture before moving.

16 :Are all your movers in college?

Our crew was founded by a group college students but has expanded to include a mix of college students and professional movers as well.

17 :Do the movers take scheduled time for lunch break or regular breaks?

Often times on longer jobs, we will gladly deduct the time for the movers to take a lunch break or a short mini break in order to help our talented moving staff stay productive and well energized.
